How to Add a Privacy Notice on OptinMonster?
OptinMonster lets you add a privacy notice to a campaign form and optionally display a checkbox. Official walkthrough: How to Add a Privacy Notice.
The vendor documents that its built-in Privacy Checkbox does not pass data with the lead. A visible or required checkbox is therefore not evidence that a consent value reached your destination. Its suggested alternatives are a custom checkbox through a supported field-mapping integration or an embedded form with the required fields. Verify either implementation rather than assuming it meets every requirement.
1. Open the campaign and go to Design.
2. Select the Fields block. In the sidebar click Add New Field and choose Privacy.
3. Click the notice text in the canvas to edit the wording and the style.
4. In the sidebar, optionally turn on the checkbox next to the notice.
5. Optionally make that checkbox required.
6. Drag the field with the three-dot handle if you want it above or below email.
7. Save.
Check presentation and behavior
| Check | What to inspect |
|---|---|
| Wording | The notice accurately describes the intended signup |
| Links | Any policy link opens the intended document |
| Required state | An unchecked required field prevents submission as intended |
| Optional state | The form behaves correctly without a selection |
| Mobile | The notice is readable and does not crowd the submit button |
| Keyboard | The checkbox and links are reachable and clearly labeled |
These are editorial verification steps, not a report of account-level testing or a legal compliance assessment. Test both checked and unchecked states with the final copy.
Verify stored data separately
If your workflow needs a recorded value, submit a controlled test through the chosen custom-field or embedded-form setup. Inspect the receiving contact and confirm the actual value, rather than treating successful form submission as proof of data transfer.
Document which notice version and destination you tested. If the field is missing downstream, inspect integration support and mapping before changing the visible wording. A presentation fix does not repair a missing data connection.

Questions before you decide
Frequently asked questions
Does making the built-in Privacy Checkbox required send its value with the lead?
No. OptinMonster documents that the built-in Privacy Checkbox does not pass data with the lead. Required-field validation and recording a value in the receiving system are separate concerns.
