How to Integrate Poptin with Campaign Monitor
Connect Poptin to Campaign Monitor using the destination list’s API ID and an account API key. Then submit a controlled entry and verify the subscriber in the intended list. Approving the connection alone does not establish that every field arrived correctly.
Source: Poptin’s Campaign Monitor guide, checked September 6, 2026. The verification workflow below is editorial guidance, not a client implementation report.
Prepare the destination
Confirm the Campaign Monitor account and list you intend to use. Record the list name alongside its ID so you can check the destination without repeatedly handling the API key. Use a test address you control for the first submission.
Connect the popup
- Open the popup’s Design page and choose Email and integrations → Add integration → Campaign Monitor.
- In Campaign Monitor, open List & Subscribers, choose the intended list and find its List API ID in Settings.
- Find the account API key under Profile → Account settings → API Keys.
- Enter the key and list ID in Poptin, then choose Approve. Save and publish the campaign changes before checking the live form.
Keep the key in the connection setup and out of shared screenshots. A list name is useful for a handoff record but does not replace the list ID required by the connector.
Check the received data
The vendor lists name, email address, phone and message as supported fields. Test the fields your form actually collects rather than assuming additional campaign metadata is transferred.
| Check | Evidence to inspect |
|---|---|
| Correct list | Test subscriber in the intended Campaign Monitor list |
| Address matches the controlled submission | |
| Optional fields | Submitted name, phone and message values appear where expected |
| Subscription state | Contact state matches the signup process you intended |
| Follow-up | Any separately configured automation behaves as expected |
Record the campaign, submission time and result. If existing subscribers can submit the form, run a separate controlled test for that case. The cited guide does not describe every overwrite or resubscription outcome.
Troubleshoot a missing subscriber
First confirm the campaign you tested is the campaign whose connection you edited. Check the saved list ID and account, then inspect any available error. If the subscriber exists but a value is missing, compare the actual form field and submitted value with the documented supported fields.
If data arrives but a follow-up does not run, inspect Campaign Monitor’s subscription and automation settings separately. A received contact does not prove that an email was sent. Before repeating a test or retrying delivery, check whether the destination already contains the entry.
For unresolved issues, give support the campaign, intended list and approximate test time without sharing the API key. Return to Poptin integrations for other destinations.
Questions before you decide
Frequently asked questions
Does the guide confirm that campaign metadata is sent to Campaign Monitor?
The documented field list includes name, email address, phone and message. It does not confirm additional campaign metadata, so verify any extra fields you need before relying on them.
