How to Integrate Hello Bar with WordPress

Emel DalabasmazUpdated September 5, 20263 min read

Hello Bar on WordPress is still the official plugin plus a site snippet. The help article How to Install Hello Bar on WordPress was modified on 16 June 2026 and checked on 5 September 2026. These are documentation-based steps; we have not tested them in your WordPress installation.

Before you start

Have access to the correct Hello Bar site and permission to install plugins in WordPress. Identify who manages caching and record whether Hello Bar is already inserted through another plugin, the theme or a tag manager. If an installation already exists, investigate that path before adding another.

Choose a test page and a campaign with known display rules. The expected outcome is more than a saved snippet: the campaign should appear for the intended visitor, dismiss properly and send any submitted lead to the intended destination.

How do you install Hello Bar on WordPress?

  1. Copy your site snippet from Install in Hello Bar.
  2. In WordPress, use Plugins → Add New to find, install and activate the official Hello Bar plugin.
  3. Open its admin screen, paste the snippet and select Activate Hello Bar.
  4. Clear the server-side and browser caches.
  5. Create the campaign in Hello Bar.

How do you verify the installation?

Publish a campaign with a known page and audience rule, then visit that page outside the WordPress admin. Confirm the campaign displays and can be dismissed on mobile. Submit a test lead if it contains a form, and inspect the intended list or notification separately from display.

If the campaign does not appear, check that the snippet belongs to the correct Hello Bar site and clear relevant caches as the vendor guide recommends. Also check campaign status, targeting and the account allowance before installing a second copy of the script. Installing a plugin and publishing an eligible campaign are separate steps.

Troubleshoot by symptom

Symptom Next check
Plugin is active but no campaign appears Confirm the snippet's site, campaign publication and eligibility rules
A recent change is not visible Clear relevant caches and repeat the same visitor journey
The campaign appears twice Inspect existing installation paths before adding or removing code
The form displays but no lead arrives Check the destination connection separately from script installation
Display differs between desktop and mobile Repeat the test with the intended device rules and check dismissal and page access

These are diagnostic suggestions, not confirmed defects in a particular WordPress theme. Change one suspected cause at a time so you can tell which action affected the result.

Record a useful verification result

Keep the test URL, device, campaign, approximate time and observed behavior in a short installation note. For a form, record display success and destination success separately. A screenshot of a visible bar does not establish that contact delivery works.

If you need support, state where the journey stops: plugin activation, script loading, eligible campaign display or lead delivery. Include relevant theme and caching-plugin names, but do not send credentials. Keep the original installation path identifiable so another administrator can understand what changed.

What we could not verify

  • Whether a block-theme / Full Site Editing site needs an extra placement step. The June 2026 article still describes a classic admin plugin screen.
  • How Hello Bar behaves next to a page-builder that strips unknown scripts.
