How to Create an Embedded Form Display on Privy
Emel DalabasmazA Privy embedded form sits in the page (footer, about, blog) instead of popping over it. In 2026 it is still a Convert display, but it only builds in the Classic Designer. The newer template picker will not make one. Vendor source: Create an Embedded Form.
The 2023 steps on this URL used Convert > All Displays and a "Build Your Own" play. The current path is Displays > Create new display > Get started (Classic) > Add a display > Embedded Form.
How do you create the form?
- Open Displays and click Create new display.
- Skip the new templates. In the lower left, choose Get started to open Classic Designer.
- Name the display. Choose email, phone, or both. Click Create display.
- In Create, set form fields, Single vs Double Opt-In, and any validation rules.
- Click Add a display. From the left list pick Embedded Form, choose a template, then Choose selected.
- Edit copy, fields and background. Keep the design quiet so it matches the theme. Save & Close.
What about the thank-you step and the coupon?
Classic Designer still has a Thank You Page. Customise it under Thank You Page Design. If the signup drops a discount, put {{ signup.coupon_code }} on that page.
Attach the coupon in Create > Coupon. The coupon has to exist in Privy first (Shopify, BigCommerce, or a manual code you also created in the store).
Targeting is thin on purpose. An embed only shows on the page you paste it into. The remaining control is How Long to Show It if you want the form to expire.
How do you follow up and publish?
On Follow-Up:
- Publish the After Signup Email or it will not send.
- Add a sync rule if Klaviyo, Mailchimp or another linked account should get the contact.
- After Signup Text is only available if you collect SMS and you are on a plan that includes SMS (Growth on older accounts; Email + SMS credits on post-8-July-2025 accounts).
Click Publish. Then go back to Create, hit Get embed code, and copy the snippet.
How do you put it on Shopify?
Vendor steps for a footer:
- Shopify admin > Online Store > Themes > Customize.
- In the sidebar pick Header, Template or Footer, add a Custom Liquid block, paste the code.
- Drag the block to place it. Save after each move so the preview reloads.
On a raw HTML site, paste the snippet where the form should sit. On Wix, do not use this snippet as-is. Wix wants a permalink built from the campaign ID. See How to integrate Privy with Wix.
Frequently asked questions
Why is Embedded Form missing from the new builder?
Privy's docs say embedded forms have to be Classic. If you only see the new template gallery, look for Get started in the lower left.
Can I target an embed by country or cart value?
Not usefully. The form renders where you pasted it. Use a popup or bar if you need Convert's audience rules.
