How to Integrate Sleeknote with Mailchimp

Emel DalabasmazUpdated September 6, 20262 min read

Sleeknote documents a direct Mailchimp connection using an API key. Follow the official Mailchimp guide alongside your account.

How do I get the Mailchimp API key?

  1. Log in to Mailchimp. Open your profile. Open Account (some accounts say Account & billing).
  2. Open Extras, then API keys.
  3. Copy an existing key, or create one.

Treat that key like a password.

How do I connect it in Sleeknote?

  1. In the Campaign Builder, open the Integrations step. Choose Mailchimp. Continue.

  2. Paste the API key. Submit.

  3. Pick the Mailchimp audience (list) for new signups. Continue.

  4. Map each Sleeknote field to a Mailchimp field.

  5. Turn on double opt-in or a welcome email if you use them.

  6. Save the integration. Activate the campaign.

Verify the complete signup

Check Evidence to inspect
Audience The test reaches the intended Mailchimp audience
Fields Submitted values reach their mapped destinations
Confirmation Double opt-in, if enabled, completes as intended
Status The resulting subscription status matches the expected flow
Welcome email The intended message arrives after its configured trigger
Mobile Validation and submission work with the on-screen keyboard

These are editorial acceptance checks, not a report of account-level testing. Use a controlled new address for the first test, then check existing-contact behavior separately. Record the audience and test time so a missing signup can be traced.

Investigate the failing stage

Sleeknote’s missing-leads guide points to credentials, destination selection, required-field mapping and confirmation status. Check those in relation to the actual symptom rather than changing every setting at once.

If the contact is present but no welcome email follows, inspect the follow-up configuration. If a required value is absent, review the campaign input and destination mapping. A successful API connection does not establish that the entire signup flow is correct.

Keep a handoff with the campaign, audience, expected field values and follow-up owner. Repeat the affected checks after changing an audience or form requirement. Avoid placing the API key in that document.

Questions before you decide

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the Mailchimp integration with a multistep Sleeknote campaign?

Yes. Sleeknote’s Mailchimp guide lists compatibility with multistep campaigns. Test the complete sequence and inspect the receiving fields before relying on the setup.
