How to Schedule a Site Element to Display during a Specific Date and/ or Time on Hello Bar?

Emel DalabasmazUpdated September 5, 20263 min read

Hello Bar schedules with targeting rules, not a campaign start/stop calendar. Date targeting is documented in Can I set my pop-up to only appear on a certain date, or between certain dates? (modified 23 July 2026). Time of day is in How to Set Your Pop-Ups To Appear At A Certain Time of Day (22 April 2019, still listed).

The date guide excludes Starter. Confirm the required targeting controls on the selected paid plan. See Hello Bar pricing.

The date guide defines day boundaries in UTC and recommends combining date and time conditions for a different local schedule. Both documents were checked September 5, 2026; this is documentation-based guidance, not a live account test.

How do you show a unit on certain dates?

  1. In the Hello Bar dashboard, open Targeting and click Create new rule (the July 2026 article describes a green button).

  2. In the modal, click the blue +.

  3. Set the first field to Date.

  4. In the middle field pick is, is not, before, after, or between.

  5. Pick the date or date range.

  6. Name the rule. Click Save.

  7. Assign that rule to the unit, then publish.

The July 2026 article walks through a single-day example (4 July 2026), an exclude-day example, a 1–15 December window, a "before this date" rule, and an "after this date" rule.

How do you show a unit at certain times of day?

  1. In the builder, open Targeting and click Create new custom targeting rule.

  2. Click the blue +. Set the first field to Time.

  3. Choose before or after. Times are 24-hour (14:00, not 2:00pm).

  4. Pick a timezone, or Use visitor's timezone.

  5. For a window (for example 08:00–20:00), add a second condition: Time is after 08:00 and Time is before 20:00.

  6. Name the rule, Save, then Save & Publish in the builder.

The 2019 time article is older than the 2026 date article. Labels may differ slightly ("Create new rule" vs "Create new custom targeting rule"). Confirm the controls available in your account.

Write down the intended clock before configuring rules

Decide whether an offer should start at one shared instant or at the same local time for each visitor. Those are different schedules. Record the campaign, intended dates, clock zone and start/end boundaries before choosing rules. The following checks are editorial guidance, not a live scheduling test.

For a conversion example, midnight at a fixed UTC+03:00 offset is 21:00 UTC on the previous calendar day. A date entered without considering that boundary can describe a different window from the business brief. Do not assume that adding a time rule automatically corrects a mismatched date range.

Verify the beginning and end of the window

Check What to establish
Before the intended start The campaign remains hidden for an otherwise eligible visitor
Inside the intended window The intended campaign appears under the same audience conditions
After the intended end The campaign no longer appears on a fresh eligible page visit
Another visitor time zone Behavior matches the selected fixed-zone or visitor-local requirement
Promotion crosses midnight Both calendar dates and the clock conditions match the business brief

Use a short controlled test window where practical and record the observed time with its zone. A preview checks the creative, not the schedule boundary. Check the saved rule and campaign publication if a result differs from the brief.

The public walkthrough does not establish whether every boundary is inclusive, how daylight-saving transitions are handled, or whether a popup already open disappears at the end time. Confirm those details if the campaign depends on them. Keep the underlying offer's expiry rules aligned with the promotion; hiding a popup alone does not establish that a discount has expired.

What we could not verify

  • Whether time-of-day UI was redesigned after 2019. The article is still live.
  • Recurring weekly schedules (every Saturday). Public docs only show calendar dates and clock times.
  • Starter workarounds. Support says upgrade.

Questions before you decide

Frequently asked questions

Which time zone does Hello Bar use for date boundaries?

The date guide says days are measured in UTC. Convert the intended business window and review both date and time conditions before publishing.

Can time rules follow the visitor’s time zone?

The time guide describes a selected time zone or Use visitor’s timezone. Choose based on whether the campaign should launch at a shared instant or at each visitor’s local clock time.
