Install OptiMonk (and embedded campaigns) on a site

Q: Can I put the OptiMonk code in the footer?

OptiMonk tells you to use . BigCommerce Script Manager should be Header , not Footer. A footer paste can delay the first paint of the campaign or miss early exits. Put it with your other head tags.

Embedded OptiMonk content is a campaign type, not a separate product. It still needs the OptiMonk JavaScript in the page <head>, once. Shopify stores should use the app; custom sites paste the snippet from Profile → Settings → Insert code. OptiMonk's 3 January 2026 insert-code article is the live path.

Popups, sticky bars, sidemessages and embedded blocks all ride that same snippet. If the snippet is missing, none of them show.

Shopify

Install OptiMonk: AI Popup Builder from the Shopify App Store. That is how you keep cart rules and order analytics. A GTM-only or theme-only paste on Shopify is the path that drops those.

If the app is already on the store, you do not also paste the JS.

WordPress, Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce

Use the plugin or Script Manager for that platform. BigCommerce steps (Header, All pages): integrate OptiMonk with BigCommerce. GTM is the fallback, with the cart-rule caveat: connect OptiMonk with GTM.

Custom site: paste the snippet

Log in at app.optimonk.com/login/en.
Profile → Settings (bottom left).
Insert code under Account.
Pick the domain.
Choose Custom Website.
Choose I can insert the code.
Copy the JS. Put it inside <head>, before </head>. Once per site.

No admin access: Send the instructions to Admin or Developer. No developer: Ask us for help and OptiMonk will try to insert it.

Then turn on an embedded campaign

Create a campaign, pick the embedded type (or a template that sits in the page), set the target page, connect Klaviyo or a webhook if you collect emails, then flip Active. Activate or inactivate.

Embedded campaigns are the quiet ones. They need a place in the layout. Popups do not.
