How to Integrate Wisepops with Mailchimp
Official documentation checked September 6, 2026. The validation checklist below is editorial guidance, not a client implementation report.
How do you connect Mailchimp?
-
Log in to Wisepops.
-
Open or create a campaign with a sign-up form.
-
Click the form.
-
Left menu → Sync → Mailchimp.
-
In the new tab, log in to Mailchimp and click Allow.
-
Select the destination list (your Mailchimp Audience). Save.
Only emails collected on the live site sync. Preview / editor test submits do not.
Tags and groups
Tags. Type the exact name and click Create. Existing tags are not fetched from Mailchimp. Verify the resulting tag to catch spelling differences.
Groups. Set Merge with to Mailchimp groups. Hidden fields can force a group. Checkboxes can let the visitor pick. Group names are case-sensitive.
If you show a coupon, display it on the thank-you step of the popup as well as (or instead of) waiting for the Mailchimp welcome. You can also export CSV from Wisepops.
If the address never appears
- Confirm a real visitor signed up, not the preview.
- Check required audience fields and map the form accordingly. Change an audience requirement only if that fits the intended data collection.
- Addresses already on the Audience are filtered. Test with a new address.

Verify the complete signup path
Use a new address you control on the published website. Record the campaign, audience and submission time before inspecting Mailchimp.
| Check | Expected evidence |
|---|---|
| Audience | The test contact appears in the intended destination. |
| Fields | Required and optional values match the submitted data. |
| Organization | Expected tags and groups are present. |
| Subscription | The contact state matches the intended signup process. |
| Follow-up | Any separately configured automation behaves as expected. |
If the contact arrives without a group, compare the exact group value before reconnecting the account. If it arrives but a welcome message does not, inspect subscription and automation conditions separately. Contact delivery alone does not prove that a message was sent.
Keep new-contact and existing-contact tests separate. The vendor recommends a new address for the initial sync check; do not use that result to infer every update or resubscription behavior. Record unresolved cases before handing the campaign over.
Questions before you decide
Frequently asked questions
Can I verify Mailchimp delivery using a website-preview submission?
No. Wisepops says emails entered in website preview are not sent to Mailchimp. Test on the published website with a controlled address that is not already in the audience.
