How to change an Alia Popups visitor tier

3 min read

Changing Alia’s visitor capacity and buying managed campaign services solve different problems. Decide which requirement is missing before selecting an upgrade. The product details below follow Alia’s upgrade documentation, checked September 5, 2026; the planning worksheet is our editorial advice, not a record of an account change.

Choose the change that matches the problem

Your situation Evaluation step
An upcoming promotion may exceed the current allowance Forecast visitor volume and compare the required tier with the selected allowance
Capacity is sufficient but nobody owns campaign optimization Assess managed-service deliverables and internal responsibilities separately
A campaign or contact sync is broken Diagnose that workflow before assuming a more expensive plan will fix it
Both traffic and operating workload are growing Record capacity and service requirements as separate line items

Use the product's billing definition when making the forecast. A pageview total, an analytics session total and a vendor's visitor count should not be substituted for one another without checking their definitions.

Open and approve the upgrade

Alia documents the top-right dashboard menu, a visitor slider and plan approval. Upgrades apply immediately and preserve campaigns and collected data. Shopify prorates charges; non-Shopify accounts use Stripe and should confirm the calculation with support. Visitor-tier changes are manual.

Before approving, record the following in your own worksheet:

Field What to capture
Current and proposed plan Service level and visitor allowance separately
Commercial terms Currency, recurring amount, immediate adjustment and next billing date
Capacity need Current usage, remaining period and expected promotion traffic
Approval owner Person responsible for accepting the recurring cost
Follow-up Who will check the new allowance and campaign behavior

For a planning example, if 12,000 counted visitors have used a 20,000 allowance, 8,000 remain. A forecast of 10,000 additional visitors would leave a projected 2,000 gap. These are illustrative inputs, not an Alia plan quote or a prediction of how its meter will count your traffic. Use the allowance and reset date shown in your account.

Confirm the result without rebuilding the campaign

After approval, compare the account's plan, allowance and billing details with your worksheet. Keep a record of discrepancies and resolve them before relying on the new capacity for a promotion.

Then repeat a known test journey: open the intended page and device, trigger the existing campaign, submit a test contact and inspect its destination. Record the conditions so a targeting issue can be distinguished from a delivery issue. This is a suggested validation procedure, not a claim that we tested a live upgrade.

Keep service onboarding separate from capacity

Fully Managed adds a customer success manager, managed A/B testing and Slack support. Request Slack setup through support with the preferred email address. A Basic-to-Managed change during the trial extends the total trial to 30 days, rather than starting an additional 30-day period.

For managed work, agree who approves creative, who evaluates proposals and when results will be reviewed. More capacity alone does not assign those responsibilities or establish a conversion improvement.

See Alia pricing, the trial evaluation worksheet and integration guides for the connected decisions.

Questions before you decide

Frequently asked questions

Does Alia automatically move my account to a higher visitor tier?

No. Alia documents manual tier changes. Review usage and any cap notice before a planned traffic increase.

Do I need to rebuild campaigns after an Alia upgrade?

The upgrade guide says existing campaigns, settings and collected data remain intact. Verify your existing signup journey after changing the account.

Does upgrading during the trial start another 30 days?

The guide describes extending a Basic trial to a total of 30 days when moving to Fully Managed, not adding a fresh 30-day period.
