How to Integrate Popupsmart with Klaviyo
Use a Klaviyo private API key to connect your Popupsmart form, select the destination list and map the captured fields. Then check the received profile and subscription state before judging whether a follow-up flow should run.
Source: Popupsmart’s Klaviyo integration guide, checked September 6, 2026. The verification workflow below is editorial guidance rather than a measured client outcome.
Prepare the connection
You need a Klaviyo account with a list, a campaign containing a form and a verified website in Popupsmart. Record the destination account and list before editing the form.
Connect the form
- Select the form in Customize, then choose Add integration → Klaviyo → Connect.
- Select a saved connection or add a new Klaviyo API connection.
- In Klaviyo’s account settings, open API Keys and create a private key. Set its name, access level and scopes.
- Enter the connection name and key in Popupsmart and save.
- Select the list under Details, match the fields and save the configuration.
The vendor guide does not enumerate the minimum required scopes. Confirm those requirements before choosing access; do not guess a working permission set or publish the private key in page code.
Check capture, subscription and automation separately
Use an address you control and note the submission time. The stages below help identify where the result differs from your intent.
| Stage | What to inspect | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Form submission | The form accepts your intended input | That the destination received it |
| Profile and list | The test profile, selected list and mapped values in Klaviyo | That the person is eligible for every message channel |
| Subscription | The actual channel status and any confirmation required by your setup | That a particular flow has started |
| Follow-up | The intended flow’s entry and message status | That a message reached the inbox or generated a purchase |
Try a new test address first. If your campaign also targets existing subscribers, run a separate controlled test with an existing profile and document what changes. Do not infer repeat-submission behavior from the new-profile result.
Troubleshoot the result
- No list in the picker: Confirm a list exists in the connected account, then check the connection and key access. An empty picker alone does not identify the cause.
- No received profile: Check the published form’s saved integration, account and any available errors. Match your lookup to the submitted address and time.
- Missing property: Compare the form input, field mapping and destination value format before changing the connection.
- Profile present but no follow-up: Inspect subscription status and the intended flow’s entry conditions. Do not bypass confirmation settings to make a test appear successful.
If another signup form is active, test both paths and identify which list and flow each uses. Multiple capture tools do not automatically prove duplicate contacts; the practical concern is whether visitors encounter repeated offers or unintended follow-ups.
Keep installation and lead delivery checks separate. See Popupsmart’s Shopify setup guide for storefront installation and campaign metrics for measurement.
Questions before you decide
Frequently asked questions
Should I use a public Klaviyo key for this connection?
The Popupsmart guide specifies a private API key, entered in the integration setup. It does not describe using a public key for this connection.
