Alia’s website shows different Basic pricing, including $200 for 20,000 visitors, and a Fully Managed option. Who each one is for

Start with your use case, then weigh the strengths and limitations that matter to your site.

Consider Alia Popups for

Shopify teams that already have an email or SMS platform and want to test a dedicated capture tool, with the option to pay for managed optimization.

  • Smart Testing automates experiments while letting teams review proposed changes
  • Documented connections to Klaviyo, Omnisend, Postscript and other marketing tools
  • Visitor-based tiers make the traffic allowance explicit
  • Optional managed service adds a customer success manager and managed testing

Watch for these limitations

  • Website and Shopify listing show different prices; confirm the charge before subscribing
  • A free trial is available, but no ongoing free plan is listed
  • The advertised conversion and revenue gains are vendor claims, not guaranteed results
  • Non-Shopify support is unclear across public sources; confirm your platform first

Consider Poptin for

Small sites and agencies that want a usable free plan and A/B testing without booking a demo.

  • Free plan is usable: 1,000 unique visitors, unlimited campaigns, one domain
  • A/B testing is listed on every plan on the vendor compare table
  • Capterra customer service 4.9/5 from 350 reviews (July 2026)
  • 70+ native integrations plus Zapier, Make and webhooks

Watch for these limitations

  • Template set is smaller than OptinMonster or Sleeknote
  • Reviewers report analytics that disagree with their own numbers
  • User and admin permissions confuse teams on non-Agency plans
  • Hitting the visitor cap stops every campaign until you upgrade

The detailed comparison

Features, trade-offs and the evidence behind the verdict.

Jump to a topic

Choose Poptin when an ongoing free tier and a modest initial commitment lead the decision; evaluate Alia for a dedicated Shopify testing program.

This is a source-based comparison, not a hands-on performance benchmark. Alia documentation was checked on 5 September 2026. Poptin’s pricing, features and integration directory were also checked on 5 September 2026. Its popup-only and combined email offerings are separate choices; the comparison below identifies which one is relevant.

Prove the need before paying for the operating model

Poptin’s profile puts it in the small-site and agency shortlist: a usable free plan and conventional popup testing. Alia’s case is more specific to a team that wants a dedicated Shopify capture layer and might buy managed optimization.

A limited free campaign can test installation, capture and delivery. It does not by itself prove incremental improvement to the site; that requires a suitable comparison and enough data. If that question is already answered and the team has a testing backlog, compare the maintenance work saved by Alia with the additional subscription cost.

What should you compare on price?

Alia’s Shopify listing starts at $100/month for 20,000 visitors, but its website shows a different Basic offer. The card above identifies the listing basis and the discrepancy. Confirm the actual charge before deciding which product is cheaper.

The Poptin pricing page lists popup-only Free at 1,000 monthly visitors on one domain, Basic at $25/month for 10,000 visitors, and Pro at $59/month for 50,000 visitors and four domains. The printed annual totals for Basic and Pro are $240 and $564. These allowances differ from Alia’s cited entry offer, so compare the tier that actually covers the store.

Both profiles use visitor-based billing, but confirm the included visitor count, domain count, campaign limits and support level. A shared billing unit does not mean the plans include the same work.

Which requirement changes the shortlist?

Requirement What to examine Acceptance check
Start with a limited free campaign Poptin’s 1,000-visitor allowance Display, submission and destination work before the allowance is exhausted
Operate a recurring Shopify testing backlog Alia’s Smart Testing workflow The proposed experiments and review process fit the team’s responsibilities
Include email sending in the purchase Poptin’s separate Emails & Poptins offer Contact allowance, sequence and final quote are checked separately from popup traffic
Serve several client sites Domains and user permissions in the actual plan Each client gets the intended access without relying on ambiguous card labels

Poptin’s feature page now describes email broadcasts and automations. That does not turn its popup-only Basic price into a quote for the combined offering. Its pricing FAQ counts contacts that were Subscribed or Unconfirmed during the cycle, even if they unsubscribe later.

For agency access, Poptin’s cards describe account management broadly while its FAQ names Agency or Growth for subaccounts. Confirm the planned account structure. For Alia, confirm each store’s subscription and any managed work in the proposal; do not infer a multi-client package from a single-store price.

How would we run a fair evaluation?

Use the same offer, audience and destination workflow. Record the traffic period and any other store changes. Verify that a fresh test signup reaches the intended list and receives the intended follow-up before using submission counts to judge either product.

Compare confirmed new subscribers and store outcomes against the total ongoing cost. Include discounts and staff time. A higher signup rate is not automatically a profitable improvement, and vendor case studies do not establish the result your store will achieve.

Which should you shortlist?

Choose Poptin when an ongoing free tier and a modest initial commitment lead the decision; evaluate Alia for a dedicated Shopify testing program.

Start with the requirement described above, then inspect the controls needed to meet it. If neither product has a confirmed plan and installation path that fits, expand the shortlist through Alia alternatives or Poptin alternatives.

Sources and limits

The Alia feature discussion uses its Smart Testing documentation, trial guide and integration directory. The Poptin side uses its pricing page, features and integration directory. Our judgments describe fit; they do not assert an independently measured winner or invent a shared review score.

Questions before you decide

Frequently asked questions

Does Poptin’s free plan prove it will outperform Alia?

No. Poptin’s free allowance provides a way to test a limited campaign, but a free plan is not performance evidence. Check the workflow and define an outcome before comparing it with Alia. Neither the entry price nor vendor case studies establish the result for your store.

Are Poptin Basic and Alia’s entry offer equal-capacity plans?

No. Poptin Basic lists 10,000 visitors, while the Alia Shopify listing cited here starts at 20,000. Poptin Pro lists 50,000 visitors. Compare the selected tier, billing period and actual quote for your forecast rather than treating entry prices as equivalent packages.

Does the Poptin popup price include its full email offering?

Do not assume that. Poptins and Emails & Poptins are separate product lines on the pricing page. If email sending is part of the brief, check active contacts and the chosen combined-offering quote. A popup-only price is not an email-platform replacement budget.

Which Poptin account detail should an agency confirm?

Confirm domains and user permissions separately. Pricing cards mention account management broadly, while the FAQ identifies Agency or Growth for subaccounts. That discrepancy does not establish Free or Basic entitlement. Check the intended client structure before comparing it with Alia store subscriptions.
