Who each one is for

Start with your use case, then weigh the strengths and limitations that matter to your site.

Consider OptiMonk for

Ecommerce teams evaluating gamified campaigns and capture into an existing marketing platform, with a site-pageview allowance that fits their forecast.

  • Vendor documentation describes Lucky Wheel, Pick a Gift and Scratchcard campaigns
  • Free entry point with 10,000 pageviews and one domain for an initial evaluation
  • Campaign priority and frequency controls for overlapping offers
  • Klaviyo setup guide documents list selection, field mapping and coupon properties

Watch for these limitations

  • Whole-site pageviews determine the allowance even when campaigns target a smaller audience
  • Free campaigns retain OptiMonk branding; confirm required feature access in the selected plan
  • Campaign display and downstream contact delivery require separate acceptance checks
  • Larger pageview steps need their own price check; entry rates do not cover every allowance

Consider Wisepops for

Ecommerce teams that want a strategist running popups, bars, quizzes, feed and web push, and will pay from a few hundred dollars a month.

  • Six on-site channels in one campaign model, not just popups
  • Targeting still among the most detailed in this field
  • Shopify listing publishes a $299 plan with a 14-day trial
  • A/B tests can use a holdout group and auto-conclude at 95%

Watch for these limitations

  • No public price grid on wisepops.com; most plans need a demo call
  • Self-serve is Shopify-only; other CMSs go through sales
  • Pageview metering plus extra-site fees get expensive at scale
  • No free plan, only a 14-day trial

OptiMonk Essential starts at $29 monthly or $228 annually for 20,000 monthly pageviews. Wisepops presents Shopify self-service separately from an offering with strategist support and business reviews. Compare the selected software allowance and service deliverables rather than treating every Wisepops subscription as a managed engagement.

What work does the subscription replace?

Separate software access from campaign production and review. Ask who writes the offer, builds the campaign, checks the destination data and reviews the outcome. Wisepops’s homepage distinguishes self-service from strategist-led services, so those tasks should not automatically be counted as included in a Shopify subscription.

For a service proposal, obtain the audit, campaign-build and review schedule. Public wording uses different descriptions of review timing and does not establish a single cadence for every contract. Compare that agreed work with the time your team would spend operating OptiMonk; do not invent agency-hour savings from the subscription price alone.

How many channels does the project need?

Wisepops presents six on-site channels, but a first-phase project may need only a subset. Assign each planned message a purpose and audience. A welcome capture popup, a returning-customer feed message and a web-push request need coordinated timing and suppression rules.

For either tool, test whether messages overlap and whether a visitor who dismisses one is immediately shown another. Choose the product scope that supports the intended journey rather than assuming more channels produce a better outcome. A simple capture requirement and a broader on-site communication project are different briefs.

How should traffic be budgeted?

OptiMonk counts site page loads even when a campaign does not appear. A campaign targeting a small audience still needs a plan that accommodates the site’s billable traffic. Its FAQ describes alerts at 80% and 100%, then campaigns stopping at the limit until a first-of-month reset or an upgrade.

For Wisepops, record the selected pageview allowance and over-limit terms in the offer. Do not transfer OptiMonk’s stop policy to a different vendor. Forecast the promotional peak and identify the person who can approve a higher tier before the launch.

What should the integration evaluation prove?

Distinguish exporting a signup from using external customer data for targeting. Wisepops’s directory describes both sending leads to Klaviyo and using Klaviyo segments to target campaigns. Those are different directions of data flow and should be evaluated separately.

For each shortlisted tool, test a new lead, an existing subscriber and an excluded customer. Confirm fields, list membership, consent handling and campaign eligibility. Record what happens when visitor identification is unavailable. A logo in an integration directory does not establish that every required event or property is supported.

How should results be reviewed?

Define the success event and reporting window before launch. Separate the number of signups from downstream purchases and record the audience that was eligible to see the campaign. If comparing campaign versions, keep the offer and audience changes documented so the result has an interpretable cause.

These are evaluation criteria, not a claim of a completed experiment or measured conversion lift. Shortlist OptiMonk when its traffic tier and campaign workflow fit your operating team. Shortlist Wisepops when the required channels or explicitly contracted services address work you need to support.

Questions before you decide

Frequently asked questions

Does Wisepops self-service include managed campaign reviews?

The homepage separates Shopify self-service from the offering with strategist support and business reviews. Confirm the actual deliverables and cadence in the proposal before comparing it with OptiMonk plus your own campaign-management time.

Does targeting a small segment lower OptiMonk billable pageviews?

No. OptiMonk counts page loads whether or not a campaign appears. Select the traffic tier using the site’s billing counter rather than popup impressions. Obtain the selected Wisepops offer’s allowance separately.

What happens if OptiMonk reaches capacity during a promotion?

Its FAQ describes notices at 80% and 100%, followed by campaigns stopping at the limit. You can wait for the first-of-month reset or upgrade. Plan peak traffic and an upgrade owner before launch; do not assume Wisepops has the same policy.

Are lead export and segment targeting the same integration task?

No. Sending a new contact to a list and using an existing external segment to select a campaign are different data flows. Wisepops describes both with Klaviyo. Test the required direction, properties and identification behavior in each shortlisted tool.
