Features
Privy is an ESP with a popup attached. Welcome series, cart-abandonment email, SMS, flyouts. If you do not want a second Klaviyo bill, that is the product.
OptiMonk is not an ESP. It captures email and SMS consent (and will pass SMS consent into Klaviyo in supported regions) then stops. Campaign types on the page are heavier: lucky wheel, Dynamic Content, UX Protector, control-variant tests.
If you already pay Klaviyo, stacking Privy means two senders. Stacking OptiMonk means one sender and a dedicated on-site tool.
Integrations: both do Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Mailchimp. OptiMonk's Klaviyo OAuth is the cleaner hand-off. Privy talks to Twilio, Attentive-class SMS and Shopify more as a native. Archives: OptiMonk integrations, Privy integrations.
Pricing
OptiMonk climbs with pageviews: $0 / $29 / $99 / $249.
Privy climbs with contacts. A quiet store with a huge list pays Privy more. A busy store with a small list pays OptiMonk more. There is no universal cheaper.
Privy's older Starter at $15 a month is 2023 research. Re-check before you quote it to a client.
Who should pick OptiMonk, and who should pick Privy?
Shopify store, no ESP yet, wants email and SMS from the same place: Privy. Shopify store, already on Klaviyo, wants wheels and cart popups: OptiMonk. Product pages: OptiMonk, Privy.
Can OptiMonk send abandoned-cart emails?
No. It can show an on-site cart campaign and pass the email to Klaviyo, which then sends the cart flow. Privy can send the email itself. That is the product split.
Which is better for SMS?
Privy, if SMS send lives in the same app. OptiMonk, if you collect the number and consent and let Klaviyo, Attentive or Postscript send. OptiMonk's Klaviyo article (April 2026) covers forwarding SMS consent in the US and Canada.
Is Privy cheaper than OptiMonk?
It depends which number is growing. Pageviews: OptiMonk's bill. Contacts: Privy's bill. A 10,000-pageview store can sit on OptiMonk Free. A tiny list can sit on Privy's free popups. Model both meters against your Analytics and your ESP, not against a blog table.
