Privy if the store is Shopify and you do not want Klaviyo or Mailchimp as a second vendor. OptinMonster if the site is WordPress or a custom stack and the ESP is already chosen.

Does OptinMonster replace Privy on Shopify?

Only on Growth, and even then it is a popup tool talking to Shopify, not an email tool. Cart and product targeting, coupon wheels, OnSite Retargeting: those are Growth line items. The email still leaves through Mailchimp, Klaviyo or whoever you connected.

Privy is the other shape. Capture, email, SMS, one contact list. The cost follows the list. That is cheap on day one and less funny at 50,000 contacts. OptinMonster's cost follows impressions and plan gates instead.

G2 listed OptinMonster at 4.3 from 106 reviews. Privy is on G2's OptinMonster alternatives list at 4.6 from 122 reviews. Different products, overlapping buyers.

Where does OptinMonster still win?

Pro targeting on a content site. Referrer, UTM, cookie, campaign scheduling, A/B tests on Plus. Privy's reporting is the thing our own Privy profile flags as thin.

The plugin. WordPress merchants who are not on Shopify have no reason to open a Privy tab.

Refunds. OptinMonster's 14-day first-purchase window is documented. Privy's current terms live on its own site. Do not assume they match.

Stay on OptinMonster for WordPress. Switch to Privy for Shopify-plus-email. Other options: OptinMonster alternatives. Numbers: OptinMonster pricing. Products: OptinMonster, Privy.
