Who should win: Privy or Poptin?

Privy Poptin
Job Shopify capture + email/SMS Popup and form widget
Free plan No, for new accounts Yes, usable
Meter Contacts or pageviews Monthly visitors
Sending In-app email and SMS Bring an ESP
A/B tests Displays and email Included, not gated

The 2023 page said Privy had a Free / Pro / Enterprise split starting at $24, and Poptin Basic $19 / Plus $39 / Pro $59. Poptin's 2026 monthly list is Basic $25, Pro $59, Agency $119. Annual is 20% off. Privy's $24 is displays-only, not an ESP plan.

How do the features differ?

Poptin is the broader widget: overlays, modals, scroll boxes, bars, embeds, dynamic forms, Zapier. Targeting includes new vs returning, location, behaviour. The template library is smaller than the field. Admin permissions confuse reviewers. Reported analytics can disagree with the site's own numbers.

Privy Convert covers popups, bars, flyouts, spin-to-win, embeds, quizzes. Then it keeps going into Flows. That second half is the product. If you never send from Privy, you bought an ESP to run a widget.

For a Shopify cart saver plus the email that follows, Privy. For a WordPress opt-in with a free plan, Poptin.

What about integrations?

Privy: Shopify, BigCommerce, Wix, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Attentive, Postscript, Smile.io. Privy integrations.

Poptin: website builders (Wix, Shopify, WordPress), CRMs, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Google Analytics, Hotjar. Broader on paper. Shallower on Shopify. Poptin integrations.

How do prices compare?

Privy 23 August 2026:

  • Displays-only $24/month at 10,000 pageviews, $84 at 50,000
  • Email $30 at 1,500 contacts
  • Privy pricing

Poptin, 23 August 2026: free (1,000 unique visitors), then Basic $25/month. Poptin pricing.

A store that only needs the popup and already has Klaviyo should not be on Privy's Email plan. Displays-only at $24 is the fair Privy comparison against Poptin Basic at $25. Poptin's free plan still beats "no free plan".

Frequently asked questions

Can Poptin send abandoned-cart SMS?

No. Privy can, US and Canada, on credits.

Can I use Poptin on Shopify and Klaviyo together?

Yes. That is the stack we would pick over Privy Email if Klaviyo is already paid for.
