Hello Bar is a fair $39-a-month (billed yearly) bar and popup tool. For most jobs it is not the one we would open first.

OptiMonk undercuts it on annual price and ships more campaign types. Mailmunch is cheaper if you also need to send the email. OptinMonster is the WordPress-shaped option. Sleeknote, Wisepops and Adoric cost more and go deeper.

Prices below were read from each vendor's own pricing page on 23 August 2026. PopupBuilder.io is independent.

Hello Bar's own cards are $39 / $69 / $129 billed yearly. Its feature table still prints $29 / $49 / $99. We use the cards. See Hello Bar pricing.

OptiMonk

OptiMonk is the alternative we send most Hello Bar shoppers to.

Homepage of OptiMonk on a colorful background

The OptiMonk pricing page lists Free at $0 for 10,000 site pageviews a month, unbranded, all features, one domain. Essential starts at $19/mo billed yearly ($228/year) for 20,000 pageviews. Growth is $69. Premium is $179. Pageviews here are every load of your site, whether a campaign shows or not. That meter is harsher than Hello Bar's popup-view meter, but the free tier actually renews and the paid entry is $20 a month cheaper on yearly billing.

OptiMonk's gap vs Hello Bar is campaign types: spin-to-win, teasers, multi-step, on-site personalisation. Hello Bar still wins if you only want a header bar and you think in popup impressions, not site pageviews.

Pair write-up: OptiMonk vs Hello Bar.

Watch-outs. Template styling is fiddly. Mobile exit-intent has been a long-running complaint. Plan jumps (Essential to Growth) are steep.

Mailmunch

Mailmunch is the cheaper list-growth kit.

Mailmunch landing cover

Mailmunch pricing is two ladders. Lead capture: Free at $0, Premium at $19.99/mo or $13.99/mo billed yearly, 1,000 contacts, unlimited forms and landing pages, no Mailmunch branding. Email marketing: Essential from $6.99/mo yearly (500 subscribers), Pro from $13.99/mo yearly (1,000). Thirty-day money-back on lead-capture Premium, 60-day on the email ladder (the page prints both).

Hello Bar does not send campaigns. If the job is "grow a list and email it," Mailmunch is the cheaper stack. If you already pay for Kit or Klaviyo, Hello Bar is the onsite piece only.

Pair write-up: Hello Bar vs Mailmunch.

Watch-outs. Design controls are basic. There is no public API. Team management is a $9.99/mo add-on.

OptinMonster

OptinMonster is the WordPress-shaped option with a large template set.

Homepage of OptinMonster on a green background

OptinMonster pricing (23 August 2026) is billed yearly, with a 60% intro cut for 12 months: Basic $7/mo (normally $210/year), Plus $19, Pro $29, Growth $49. Renewals are at full price. The meter is campaign impressions, not site pageviews. Basic includes all campaign types but only 2,500 impressions and one site. Exit-intent, scheduling and badge removal sit on Pro. Geo and on-site retargeting sit on Growth.

Against Hello Bar: OptinMonster has more campaign chrome and a thicker WordPress story. Hello Bar's Growth A/B tests are included at $39 yearly-billed. OptinMonster puts A/B tests on Plus. No honest free plan; the WordPress plugin has a limited free path we did not re-verify in-app.

Pair write-up: OptinMonster vs Hello Bar.

Watch-outs. Intro pricing expires. Impression caps are tight on Basic and Plus. Support response time is a recurring review complaint.

Adoric

Adoric has moved upmarket since our 2023 copy, which still had it as a $9–$29 tool.

Homepage of Adoric on a blue background

Adoric pricing now starts at $100/mo Basic (300,000 pageviews, 3 domains), then Essentials $250, Standard $350, Enterprise $500. A/B testing is listed from Essentials. Logo removal from Standard. The Shopify popup app is a different product: $4.99/mo for 0–100 store orders, up to $399.99.

What Adoric still has that Hello Bar does not: cookie and local-storage retargeting, HTML and event conditions, product recommendations, in-page content. On a generic site, Hello Bar is less than half the web money and faster to ship a bar. On Shopify, Adoric's $4.99 app can undercut Hello Bar's $39. Adoric web is the pick if you will actually use the extra targeting and you can stand a $100 floor.

Pair write-up: Hello Bar vs Adoric.

Watch-outs. The Shopify app and the "all websites" ladder are different products. Some settings still need a support thread to decode. A/B tests on web start at $250/mo.

Sleeknote

Sleeknote is the DTC popup tool with phone support on every plan.

Homepage of Sleeknote on a colorful background

Sleeknote pricing is visitor-based, not pageview-based. Core at 0–25,000 monthly visitors is €49/mo billed yearly (€62 monthly). Core and Gamification is €68/mo yearly. Unlimited campaigns, unlimited domains, phone + chat + email on every tier. No free plan; 14-day trial, no card. Money-back: 30 days on monthly, 100 days on annual.

Hello Bar is cheaper and English-dollar simple. Sleeknote is the pick if native-feeling units, a visitor meter, and a human on the phone matter more than $39.

Pair write-up: Sleeknote vs Hello Bar.

Watch-outs. Priced in euros. Gamification is a second ladder. No free forever tier.

Wisepops

Wisepops no longer publishes a self-serve grid.

Homepage of Wisepops on a dark purple background

The Wisepops pricing page says plans start at €499/month and asks you to book a demo. The pitch is a traffic-activation platform: six channels (popups, embeds, feed, bars, quizzes, web push), a dedicated strategist, and a 7-day audit. A 14-day trial exists; they push the demo first.

That is not a Hello Bar competitor at the same budget. It is what you buy when the bar tool is no longer the bottleneck. If €499 is the floor, Hello Bar is a different product.

Pair write-up: Wisepops vs Hello Bar.

Watch-outs. No public tier list. Sales-led. Overkill for a two-page brochure site.

What we could not verify

  • Month-to-month Hello Bar prices (toggle did not render in static HTML).
  • Whether Hello Bar still gates HubSpot and Salesforce on Elite.
  • OptinMonster's in-plugin free path, inside WordPress.
  • Wisepops' actual quote at a given session volume.

If you only need the bar, stay on Hello Bar. If you need anything else on this page, pick that tool and do not look back.
