Popupsmart meters on monthly pageviews. Free is 5,000 views and one live popup. Paid plans start at $32.50/month billed annually (Basic, 50,000 pageviews, three websites, unlimited live popups). Monthly billing for that same plan is $39.
Source: popupsmart.com/pricing, checked 23 August 2026. The page defaults to annual (20% off). All dollar figures below are USD. If a number here disagrees with that URL, the URL wins.

The screenshot above is the 2023 capture. Plan names still match. Quotas and the Advanced tier do not: Basic is now 50K pageviews (not 100K), Pro is 250K (not 500K), Expert is 500K (not 1M), and Advanced sits between Basic and Pro. Use the table, not the image, for current limits.
What does each Popupsmart plan include?

Team-seat caps were updated 1 November 2024 according to the vendor's team-members help article. Free has none. Basic has one. Advanced and Pro have two. Expert has four. (That article still labels Pro as "Professional"; the pricing page says Pro.)
Feature gates from the same pricing matrix:
- Analytics, custom fonts, custom CSS, unbranded, priority support, Smart Mode: Basic and up.
- A/B split testing: Advanced and up.
- Campaign filing (folders): Pro and Expert.
- CRO consultancy (1 hour/month) and a Slack line: Expert only.
- Templates, form builder, geo, exit intent, gamification, Shopify, and the listed CRMs: every plan, including Free.
Chat support "within 15 minutes" is listed for paid plans during GMT+3 working hours. Email support "within 8 hours" is listed for paid plans. Free gets standard support.
What happens when you blow the pageview cap?
Quoted from the pricing-page FAQ, 23 August 2026:
- Auto-extend on: $10 per extra 10,000 pageviews.
- Ten or more overage chunks in a month (90,000 extra views) cap that month's overage at $99 until 250,000 extra pageviews.
- Past 250,000 extra: another $99 per 250,000.
- Extra email: $5 per 500.
- Annual plans: if you pay no overage for two months running, auto-extend turns itself off. You re-check the box after settling invoices.
Leave auto-extend off and the campaign just stops showing. Leave it on and a traffic spike becomes a second invoice. Count pageviews in Google Analytics before you pick a tier; Popupsmart counts a pageview each time a page loads.
Is the Shopify app priced the same way?
No. The Shopify App Store listing on 23 August 2026 prints:
| Shopify plan | Price | Pageviews | Emails | Sites | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 5,000 | 100 | 1 | 1 active popup |
| Starter | $19/mo or $190/yr | 25,000 | 750 | 1 | Not on popupsmart.com/pricing |
| Basic | $39/mo or $390/yr | 50,000 | 1,000 | 3 | Matches website Basic monthly |
| Advanced | $69/mo or $690/yr | 100,000 | 3,000 | 5 | Matches website Advanced monthly |
The listing then links "See all pricing options" to popupsmart.com/pricing (Pro and Expert live there). Annual on Shopify is described as "save 17%"; the website says 20%. We did not complete a Shopify checkout, so we cannot confirm which discount actually applies at the card.
If you install from Shopify, the in-app plan picker is the source of truth for that install. If you sign up on popupsmart.com, the website table is.
How does this compare with the other tools we cover?
Popupsmart numbers below are 23 August 2026. Competitor figures are whatever this site last published on each tool's own pricing page; several of those pages are still 2023 research. Follow the links.
| Tool | Meter | Free plan? | Starting paid (as last published here) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Popupsmart | Pageviews | Yes, 5K | $32.50/mo billed annually |
| OptiMonk | Pageviews | Yes | $39/mo Essential (2023-01-04) |
| Poptin | Visitors | Yes | Starting paid not listed in our profile |
| Privy | Contacts | Yes | $15/mo Starter (2023-01-09) |
| Hello Bar | Pageviews | Trial | $24/mo Growth billed annually (2023-01-12) |
| Mailmunch | Unstated | Yes | $13.99/mo Premium billed annually (2023-01-16) |
| OptinMonster | Unstated | No (14-day money-back) | $9/mo Basic billed annually (2023-01-05) |
| Sleeknote | Visitors | Trial only | Starting paid not listed in our profile |
| Sumo | Subscribers | Yes | $39/mo Pro (2023-01-13) |
| Adoric | Unstated | Yes | $9/mo Startup (2023-01-13) |
| Wisepops | Pageviews | Unknown | Last public rate $49/mo; site now books a demo |
The comparison that matters for money is the meter. Pageview tools (Popupsmart, OptiMonk, Hello Bar) get more expensive as the site gets traffic. Contact tools (Privy) get more expensive as the list grows. If you have high traffic and a small list, Privy's model can be cheaper. If you have a huge list and a quiet site, pageviews win.
Which plan should you actually buy?
Stay on Free if you are testing a single offer on a site under ~5,000 pageviews. One live popup is the real constraint, not the view cap.
Basic ($32.50 billed annually) if you need unlimited campaigns, three sites, and to strip the branding. You still cannot run an A/B test.
Advanced ($57.50 billed annually) if you will actually split traffic. This is the first plan where testing is included. Skip Basic if that is why you are paying.
Pro is a pageview and site bump (250K, 7 sites) plus campaign folders. Buy it for the quota, not for a new feature.
Expert is the first plan with a CRO hour and Slack. Past 500K pageviews the vendor wants a custom quote.
Nonprofit and educator discounts exist per the FAQ; they are not published. You have to ask.
Can you get the money back?
The pricing hero and the FAQ, 23 August 2026: 7 days on monthly, 15 days on annual. After that, no refund; you can still cancel for the next cycle.
A later block on the same page says "15 days for monthly subscriptions and one month for annual." Those two statements cannot both be true. We are quoting the FAQ/hero pair because that is what the structured FAQ on the page emits. Confirm the window in Stripe before you pay.
Upgrade mid-cycle: unused days of the current paid plan are credited, per How to upgrade. Our walkthrough: How can I upgrade my current Popupsmart subscription plan.
Frequently asked questions
Is Popupsmart cheaper than OptiMonk?
On the annual Basic vs Essential comparison using our last OptiMonk figure ($39/mo, 2023) and current Popupsmart Basic ($32.50/mo billed annually), Popupsmart is cheaper at the entry paid tier. OptiMonk's free plan, in that same 2023 write-up, included A/B testing; Popupsmart's does not. Price is not the whole product.
Do I pay extra for gamification?
No. Spin-to-win, lottery ball, and surprise box are on the pricing matrix for every plan, including Free.
What is the email quota for?
Popupsmart's own autoresponder, not your Mailchimp sends. Connecting Klaviyo or Mailchimp does not spend this quota. Blowing it costs $5 per 500 extra emails if auto-extend is on.
