If you are leaving OptinMonster, start with Poptin for price, Privy on Shopify, OptiMonk for wheels, Hello Bar for a top bar. OptinMonster Pro is $29 a month billed annually in year one, $870 to renew, on optinmonster.com/pricing as of 23 August 2026. G2's own alternatives list puts Poptin and OptiMonk ahead of OptinMonster on score.

Why look for an OptinMonster alternative?

Three practical reasons.

The bill. Intro Basic is $7 a month billed annually. Useful Exit-Intent is Pro. Year two of Pro is $870. There is no free plan.

The gates. Shopify, WooCommerce, coupon wheels and geo sit on Growth ($49 intro, $1,470 to renew). A store that needs cart targeting is not shopping the $7 tier.

The reviews. G2 lists OptinMonster at 4.3 from 106 reviews, Poptin at 4.8 from 88+, OptiMonk at 4.8 from 158. Small samples, same direction: support scores higher on the cheaper tools.

Stay on OptinMonster if you already live in WordPress (the plugin has 1+ million active installs on wordpress.org) and you will actually use Pro.

Is Poptin the default OptinMonster alternative?

For most people who opened this page because of price, yes.

Poptin publishes a free plan. OptinMonster does not. G2's comparison copy says Poptin scores higher on support (9.8 vs 8.6) and on meeting requirements. Review counts are smaller, so that is a lean, not a proof.

Where OptinMonster still wins: the WordPress plugin's install base, the A/B testing on Plus, and Exit-Intent's reputation on Pro. If those three matter more than the invoice, stay.

When is Privy a better OptinMonster alternative?

When the store is on Shopify and the next email has to go out from the same vendor.

OptinMonster's Shopify connector is a Growth feature. Privy is built around Shopify contacts, with email and SMS in the same product. The trade is contact-metered pricing that climbs with the list, and thinner reporting. Head-to-head: OptinMonster vs Privy.

When do OptiMonk, Sleeknote or Popupsmart win?

OptiMonk if the campaign you want is a wheel, a gamified banner, or ecommerce personalisation, and you do not want to pay OptinMonster Growth to get it. G2's OptiMonk vs OptinMonster card also has OptiMonk ahead on support.

Sleeknote if how the popup looks is the buying criterion. No free plan, so it does not solve the OptinMonster price objection. It solves the "this looks like a template" objection.

Popupsmart if you want a campaign live the same afternoon and you are fine with a pageview cap. It is not the first name we would type after leaving OptinMonster. It is the one we would type if the editor, not the feature list, is what wore you out.

Hello Bar, Mailmunch, Adoric, Sumo and Wisepops each have a vs page from this URL. Use those if your job is a bar, a cheap landing-page combo, a behaviour segment, a growth toolkit, or a targeting specialist.
