Leave OptiMonk if you meter by impression, if 100,000 pageviews at $99 is too much, or if email should live in the same app. Each tool below wins a different job. OptiMonk starts at $29 a month with a 10,000-pageview free plan. G2 still rates it 4.8 from 157 reviews. This is a job list, not a takedown.
How the field compares

OptiMonk, Popupsmart and OptinMonster prices were read from each vendor's public page on 23 August 2026. Popupsmart: popupsmart.com/pricing. OptinMonster: optinmonster.com/pricing (intro year at 60% off; renewals jump). Other dollar figures on this site's tool pages have not been re-verified in this pass, so they are linked rather than restated.
Popupsmart
Popupsmart is the closer pageview-for-pageview rival. Free is thinner (5,000 pageviews, one live popup). Paid Basic at $39 a month includes 50,000 pageviews and three sites, which is more traffic than OptiMonk Essential at $29 for 20,000. Advanced is $69 a month for 100,000 pageviews, against OptiMonk Growth at $99.
Pick Popupsmart if the meter is the constraint and you do not need OptiMonk's gamified templates or the Klaviyo OAuth depth. Pick OptiMonk if the wheel, cart rules and support score are the reason you showed up. Head to head: Popupsmart vs OptiMonk.

Sleeknote
Sleeknote is the design-led ecommerce popup. No free plan, visitor-metered, phone support on every paid tier. OptiMonk's own comparison page against Sleeknote (read 23 August 2026) puts Sleeknote's paid start around €62 a month and notes a 30-day money-back window on monthly plans. That is a vendor page, so treat the euro figure as Sleeknote's published rate, not ours.
Pick Sleeknote if the editor has to match a strict brand system and you will pay for phone support. Pick OptiMonk if you want a free plan, gamification without an add-on, and live chat that G2 scores at 9.7. Comparison: Sleeknote vs OptiMonk.

OptinMonster
OptinMonster meters campaign impressions, not site pageviews. A quiet site that only fires on exit can pay less than it would on OptiMonk. There is no free plan. The advertised $7 / $19 / $29 / $49 monthly rates are a 60% first-year intro billed annually; the "Normally" column on OptinMonster's pricing page is $210 / $570 / $870 / $1,470 a year.
G2 has OptiMonk at 4.8 (157 reviews) and OptinMonster at 4.4 (105). OptinMonster wins on training material and on the impression meter. OptiMonk wins on the free plan, gamification and support score. Full write-up: OptiMonk vs OptinMonster.

Privy
Privy is capture plus the email and SMS send, built around Shopify. OptiMonk captures and hands off. If you do not want a separate Klaviyo bill, Privy is the simpler stack. If you already live in Klaviyo and only need the on-site layer, OptiMonk is the more focused tool.
Privy still has a free plan with unlimited popups. Its paid ladder climbs with contact count, which hurts once the list is large. OptiMonk climbs with pageviews, which hurts once traffic is large. Different tax. Comparison: OptiMonk vs Privy.

Poptin, Sumo, Wisepops, Hello Bar
Poptin is visitor-metered with a free plan you can actually run. Smaller template set, noisier analytics in older reviews. Good as a first exit-intent experiment. OptiMonk vs Poptin.
Sumo bundles share buttons, heat maps and opt-ins behind one script. Fine if you want that bundle. A poor OptiMonk replacement if you only needed a popup. OptiMonk vs Sumo.
Wisepops used to publish a $49 rate at 100,000 pageviews. The public pricing page now sends you to a demo. Targeting rules are still among the deepest in the category. Budget is opaque. OptiMonk vs Wisepops.
Hello Bar is the notification-bar tool. If that is all you need, OptiMonk is overkill. OptiMonk vs Hello Bar. Mailmunch is the cheap list-growth plus landing-page combo; Adoric is the low-entry personalisation option. Head to heads: OptiMonk vs Mailmunch, OptiMonk vs Adoric.

When should I leave OptiMonk?
Leave if your pageview counter will sit between 50,000 and 100,000 and you resent Growth at $99. Leave if you only fire campaigns on a slice of traffic and would rather pay for impressions. Leave if the popup and the email send should be one Shopify app. Stay if gamified campaigns, Klaviyo OAuth and G2's 9.7 support score are why you opened this page.
Which OptiMonk alternative is cheapest at 100,000 pageviews?
Of the two pageview tools we re-checked, Popupsmart Advanced is $69 a month for 100,000 pageviews. OptiMonk Growth is $99 a month for the same band. OptinMonster's intro Growth is $49 a month billed annually for 100,000 impressions, which is a different unit; after the intro year it renews at $1,470 a year. Wisepops no longer prints a number.
Does any alternative match OptiMonk's free plan?
Not closely. Popupsmart's free plan is 5,000 pageviews and one live popup. Poptin and Sumo have free tiers that are usable in a narrower way. OptinMonster and Sleeknote have no free plan. OptiMonk's 10,000-pageview free tier with A/B tests and gamification is still the most generous in this set.
Is Popupsmart always the better OptiMonk alternative?
No. It is better when you want more pageviews per dollar and a lighter editor. It is worse when you want OptiMonk's gamified units, native Shopify cart rules, or the support score G2 gives OptiMonk. Rank the job, not the brand.
