How to Integrate Privy with Attentive

Attentive bought Privy in 2021. They are still two products with two bills. This integration is for stores that send SMS from Attentive and capture the number with a Privy display. If you send SMS from Privy itself, you do not need it. Vendor source: Sync Contacts to Attentive (integration v2.0). Accounts linked before 19 August 2021 must re-auth to get the current field sync.

  1. Privy Settings > Linked Accounts.
  2. Available Integrations > Attentive.
  3. Log in to Attentive > Authorize. If several Privy accounts exist, Link the right one.

Test the connection from Authorized Accounts.

What does the display need?

  • The default Phone field (contact_phone). One number. Blank phones do not sync.
  • Attentive's SMS consent disclosure on the form. Ask your Attentive rep for the legal line they want. A typical shape is: recurring automated marketing messages, consent not required to buy, HELP / STOP, message and data rates, Terms and Privacy links.
  • No multi-select checkbox custom fields. Those do not sync. Default and other custom fields do.
  • No transactional opt-in. Marketing consent only.

How do you add the sync rule?

The 2023 "Follow-up > Sync signups" control is now on the display Settings step.

  1. Open the display > Settings > Show Advanced Settings > Sync Integrations.
  2. Add Integration > Attentive.
  3. Paste the Attentive Source ID. Save. Publish.

No Source ID, no sync. Get it from Attentive, not from Privy support.

New Attentive subscribers get a double opt-in text. Existing ones may get an "already subscribed" text. Emails collected on the same form subscribe to Attentive's EMAIL channel for that Source ID.

Sync reports success if the phone or email field went through. Custom-field errors are ignored.

How do you remove it?

Privy Linked Accounts > delete Attentive. Then in Attentive, Connected Apps > Revoke Application next to Privy.

Frequently asked questions

Did this move into Attentive after the acquisition?

No. Privy Convert still captures. Attentive still sends. The link is a sync, not a merge.

Can I skip Privy SMS credits if I use Attentive?
