⚠️
Status (August 2026): Sumo no longer sells under that name. The plugin is Website Pop-up Builder by BDOW! (formerly Sumo), slug sumome, version 1.44, last updated 5 June 2025, 10,000+ installs. WordPress.org flags it as untested with the last three major WordPress releases. A November 2024 review reports a dead login button. Current vendor guides: Installing BDOW! on WordPress and Updating the BDOW! WordPress plugin. Product status: Sumo.

If you are starting a new WordPress popup, pick a plugin the vendor still tests. OptiMonk and OptinMonster both ship current WP plugins. The steps below are archival.

Archival steps (Sumo / sumome plugin)

1. Log in to the WordPress Admin Dashboard.

2. Go to the Plugins section and select Add New. Search for Sumo (or BDOW) and click Install Now.

choosing Add New tab under the Plugins tab for the integration of Sumo and WordPress

3. Activate the plugin.

4. Go to the Settings section and select Sumo (the menu may now say BDOW).

5. Enter your account credentials or create a new account. New signups go through sumome.com/register or bdow.com.

Existing users (archival)

1. Existing users could scroll to the bottom of the Sumo page and click "Need to restore an existing account?".

2. Enter your current site ID and click "Save Changes".

3. The old auto-login URL was https://sumo.com/sites. That domain is no longer Sumo. Use app.bdow.com/login or BDOW's Changing your BDOW! site in WordPress article.

4. Some installs also opened /#/sumome/app/login on the site itself.
